Dial 1: Total work that you can recover from an make progress.
Dial 2: Intensity. Are you going heavy enough or too heavy to make progress?
Dial 3: The right exercises. Which exercises improve your main lifts, help improve movement patterns or feel good for the lifter?
To be completely honest this is amazing advice but for the average person this is not easy to figure out.
